March 13th, a Friday. This was the day many of us were told that the following week starting March 16th, schools would be closed and many employees would have to work from home. Going into the quarantine no one knew what to expect. There were fights at grocery stores over toilet paper, people running away from anyone who had a cough. To top things off, extended families were being split up.
During the quarantine, many people lost their jobs due to companies going out of business. Many of the companies went out of business because they were not prepare financially, to survive being closed for an extended amount of time. In many places in the USA, there were quarantine from two weeks to 30 days in some places. Not many businesses thought they would ever have to deal with something like this. Even natural disasters were short lived.
If you already had a job and still continued to have that job by working from home, you probably started to think about being a bit more independent. Especially, after hearing about the rising number of people filing for unemployment. Being self sufficient is more thought about in times like this. Many people started to look at how they were spending money. Some even realized they were wasting money on things they really did not need.
One way to survive the current quarantine and any future ones, is to be prepared. If you payed attention, you would have noticed which companies closed, which survived or flourished and which opportunities presented themselves as a byproduct of the quarantine. Notice that during all this, the self proclaimed Preppers were the only ones laughing.
